PvP timers are the #1 mod i am asked about, I'm amazed at how many people still don't have them installed. PvP is all about being on top of things, knowing whats happening around you at all times. Timing is everything. Knowing how much time is left on a tower enables you to leave that tower unguarded prematurely, knowing full well its safe using the "time left on tower : time to cap tower" ratio. Knowing how long until towers cap so you can start laying the smack down on Drek or Van is extremely important (especially since its easier getting a pack of rabid ferrets coordinated than it is a PvP raid). Insert other PvP time reference here. The only way to know these things for sure is to carry your own set of PvP timers.

Now, there are cornucopia of different timers out there for you to download, but for the sake of this post we are going to concentrate on our favorite of the lot, Deadly Boss Mods.

The beauty of Deadly Boss Mods, is that it is much more than a set of PvP timers, however I will save its other functions for another post. For now, here is a brief list of its main PvP functions:

AV tower and GY timers
AB timers & "time till win" countdown
EoTS "time till win countdown
Customizable look and feel
BG post functionality

Lets talk about the AV timers first. As you would expect they are, well, timers. Nifty little bars telling you how long something has until its capped. A new timer appears on the screen whenever a new objective is capped, whether its from your faction or not. This enables you to see your tower times, as well as the opposing faction timers as well (great for being able to tell if your team is ahead or behind in the rush race).

Next is the AB function of DBM. AB timers are basically the same as the AV timers. Once someone caps a resource, the timer bar starts, showing how long until your faction captures that resource. simple. However, with AB, DBM has added and additional function, something I like to call "time to win" countdown. This feature shows you how long till either faction wins the game based upon how many resources they currently have, and how many locations they have in their control. Very handy when you have things to do in RL and want to know how long a game will take.

Eots functions. "time to win" countdown. Nuff said.

The "look and feel" to everything in DBM is all customizable. Everything from bar color, shape, size to texture and placement is there for you to tinker with. Heck, it even comes with a custom "pizza" timer that you can change to time anything you want. I keep it on pizza as i often PvP with pizza or PvPwP, and am not a fan of burnt crust.

And Finally, the BG post functionality. This is the function that will quell the "OMG timerz Nub!" chat posts. Just shift click on any of the bars and it will post the time left on everything (or the "time to win") into the BG chat. Done and done.

Any-who, If you had not heard, last Friday was International Talk-Like-a-Pirate day. Many of you got the 60min pirate costumes and got to run around as a salty sea dog for a day, but did you know that you could have taken it a step further? Well you still can, thanks to Pirate Speak! PS is a nifty little addon that will have you chasing the wenches through boot bay in no time! Basically PS randomly adds words like "Yarr!" and such to the beginning and ends of your sentences, also randomly inserting commas into the mix to give it that extra pirate spice.
